The roles or characteristic activities filled by a generalist or an organism

A broad niche is a type of organism that can generally live anywhere or eat most things unlike a specialist.  A broad niche is NOT an organism. It's the environment. EX: Canada has a broad niche because the organisms that live there have to adapt to the rapid changing weather. The animals that live in a broad niche aregeneralists because they can adapt easily to changes while specialists live in a narrow niche that doesn't change much. Broad niches have a low number of different species but each species has a very high population (caribou in Canada). Narrow niches support many different species but each species has a small population (a certain bird in the tropics).
