Animal surgical preparation can vary a bit, but it is typically
begun with a though exam of the animal's general health. If
requested or need, blood work will be done as well. The animal is
put to sleep either with an injection, gas, or combination of both.
Ointment is placed in the eyes to prevent drying. The area to be
operated on is shaved and scrubbed with surgical cleanser. The
animal is placed on the operating table and arranged as needed to
keep the area accessible and sterile.
